I HAVE A 1997 CAVALIER THAT SOMETIMES WONT START AND STALLS?

MY 97 CAVALIER SOMETIMES WONT START ON THE FIRST FEW ATTEMPTS
BUT AFTER YOU KEEP TRYING IT WILL EVENTUALLY START. NOW ONCE
STATED IT IDLES VERY WELL. ONCE YOU TAKE OFF DRIVING IT RUNS GOOD
UNTIL YOU GET READY TO STOP THE RPM GOES BELOW THE .5 THEN THE
CAR SHUTS OFF. IT WILL START AGAIN AFTER A FEW TRY'S BUT USUALLY
ENDS UP CUTTING OFF AGAIN. NOW I HAVE NOTICED THE RADIO DOES NOT
CUT OFF SO DOES NOT SEE LIKE A BATTERY ISSUE. I THOUGHT IT COULD BE
THE STARTER BUT THE STARTER WILL NOT CAUSE IT TO CUT OFF. COULD
MOTOR MOUNTS CAUSE SOMETHING TO SHORT? OR COULD A BAD CELL IN A
BATTERY CAUSE THIS..

If it was stalling because of a low battery, it wouldn't start again. The battery would be dead. Is your check engine light on? If so, you should go to an Autozone and have them read the codes. Write them down and post them here. If no codes, you could try replacing your EGR valve and TPS (throttle position sensor). If you don't wish to spend money on guessing what part is bad, I would first buy a can of throttle body cleaner and clean your throttle body and IAC valve. Idle Air Control. the check engine light is not on however i will check the egr and tps also i will try cleaning the iac i really appreciate you responding to my post reelin68.. also is it possible to be my motor mounts?

I have heard of bad motor mounts short out wires, but it's usually the transmission that is affected. If you do have bad mounts, you should get them replaced before it occurs.
