the battery is good but every now and then it goes completly dead i charge it up and its good.

You may have an alternator that is not working properly, should be putting out 14.5 VDC at the battery when engine is running, OR you may have a draw on the battery that can be checked by doing a parasitic draw test.

or a battery older than 4 years old that won't hold a charge.
