I asked question last night about no waterflow on 2000 buick park avenue just did head gaskets on found out not original motor how do i find out motor year and difference if there is one #24508029

The head gaskets on these engines are not interchangeable side to side. There's a right gasket and a left gasket. Most likely the gaskets were put on the wrong sides of the engine or if only one side was done the wrong gasket was installed. These 3.8s rarely, if ever, blow head gaskets. The original problem was probably the intake manifold gaskets. The 1199 would indicate the engine was made in November of 1999 which will make it a 2000 model. HTH. -Jim
