The 100K service, like all scheduled maintenance is mostly checks. What's actually scheduled to be replaced: oil and filter (of course), cabin air filter, and the spark plugs. If you are motivated, you could do all those by yourself with parts from the dealership. They can't say anything as long as you do it right... And its not hard to do right. The checks are extensive. 100K is the point where the steering and suspension are examined, as well as the driveshaft, U-bolts, etc. Driving the car will give you a good clue as to whether or not the suspension and steering are acting appropriately. Cycle the teh 4C settings and see that they are all working. Find some lumpy road and give it a workout. They'll also check fluid levels. Belts and hoses (brakes, coolant, fuel) will also be checked and the brakes are given a visual inspection. Nothing you couldn't get a good clue on with 5-10 minutes on a lift.

Thanks a lot for your response, i will be going to look at it and test drive next week, I will be testing the c setings as you advised. I understand that on the S60R and others the cam belt needs to be replaced at a certain mileage are you aware what that is? I expect to drive the car for a maximum of two years and do about 300 kilometres a month on average. Volvo parts are a bit more expensive in South Africa where I live and I just have concerns about the running costs for the vehicle. Cheers

300km a month? I wish. I drive mine 300 miles a week. Its a comfortable ride though. The belt is replaced at ~170,000km.

AJ Thanks a lot for your feedback you have been very helpful, will let you know if I go go ahead and buy it after checking it out Cheers
