Yes, ball joint replacement is around $400, the axles are where the cost is. That is estimated at $600-$1300 depending on the shop.

When in doubt, try using automd.com It will take into account the area you live in (there is a huge difference in price depending where you are). It doesn't have everything listed, but what they have give you a breakdown for parts vs labor. It's nice to know if someone is way over quoting you.
