Where is mass air flow sensor on 2005 s40?
Hello, Top of Engine, Driver's Side, follow air filter box, over to plenum...the large black box with wires is the MAF (Mass Air-Flow) Sensor. However, Never attempt to clean a MAF, more damage done than one could ever hope to achieve. I am familiar w/S40's thru 80's,...those other 3 switches...what you talking about??? Anyway, what is your real problem,...may can help... Good Luck, AskTrannyMan
MAF sensor code came up after check engine light appeared. From air intake, three plugs attach to air supply to engine. 1 beside battery, 1 before and another after. And why not clean it(as recommended)?
Hello, Remove your Air Filter Box, and check Filter for restriction. The device you are looking for will have several wires in a bulkhead connected to the MAF....looking thru it you will see a tiny wire, possibly shield by mesh screens. Most compounds used to clean the thermistor in the center of the wire will alter its characteristics....If you could still get tolulene, I would say go for it...Check on A&M or Rock Auto for a replacement...only after you are sure you need it... That engine should run with the MAF disconnected, not great but should run. I suppose 3 things take out the majority of MAF sensors....clogged air filter, back fire from engine, and age. Good Luck, AskTrannyMan
