Volvo Front Struts Replacement
I have a volvo 2005 s40 2.4i, I need front struts and my mechanic wants to put in
monroe struts he will buy at autopartwarehouse for $120/a piece (for the assembly). I
don't want to compromise and need to know if Volvo Struts are necessary. Thank you,
No. Volvo struts are not necessary, Monroe makes a very good replacement strut, some of them have a lifetime warranty. You might ask you mechanic if that is what he putting on your car. You might also want to talk with him about different types of struts available for you car. like OE style, performance style, automatic adjustable style. You can buy the strut for the way you drive and the kind of roads you are on most. Take a few minutes to talk with him about this. I think you will like the way the new struts will perform.
The specfic OEM ones are not required but he might want to order from here.....http://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/S40/Shocks-and-Struts/?year=2004&m=1034&e=153
Thank you very much. I did not realize the type of strut made that much of a difference on how the car drives. I drive short interstate commutes and around town in Atlanta. I'm not sure what type of strut I would want. I guess I would want the type that was originally on the car? Can you recommend what type is best?
The ones that are on the site and Monroes are fine OEM replacements. I'm sure you wouldn't notice much of a difference between them.
