My brakes are spongy an I hear a hissing
sound from floor board area.  And car wants
to stall  when brakes are applied.

Noise is the brake booster is leaking vacuum. Spongy feel is usually air in the brake system, and that my have got there through seal on the master cylinder where the pushrods goes in, that maybe why the booster has failed, it got brake fluid in it from the master cylinder. You might wind up replacing both the booster and the master cylinder.
