Volvo 960 Idling rough, steam vapor coming from oil dipstick?

Asked by Oct 25, 2014 at 11:13 PM about the 1994 Volvo 960 Level II Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Took my Volvo 960 (Turbo) out of town on a "three hour tour" today...(drove approximately
170 miles there & 170 miles back home) and it ran fine til I got back to my hometown...but
then I noticed it was idling really rough in park, making a sort of "ticking" noise & there was
a strange vapor coming from the oil dipstick. Any ideas?

Common issue in the Volvo's when the Oil Trap/Flame Trap is clogged. It's part of the PCV system. Have it serviced before other seals begin to weaken due to the added pressure.
