I'm having trouble with gas getting into gas tank. 98 Chev Malibu. The attendant told me I could need a new float. The repair shop told me I could need a new fuel tank. What do I do?

The vent hose could be blocked, located near the filler neck. Your tank needs to vent when you add the fuel. Your filler neck could also be blocked. I'm sure you don't need a new float, but you might have to drop the tank to find the issue though. Find another mechanic to diagnose your issue.

Thank you very much. I'll definitely get another opinion. Is it a big job to remove gas tank??? Expensive??? Again, thank you.
