The car has only 45,000 miles, but the problem with the bushings is "age" related
according to the service technician.
That is low miles, but avg. miles these days is 15K a year. so I would agree with the service tech that it is age related. If they are worn, then replacement is necessary. While I also agree that at 45K it is premature, failure does happen in rubber components, you can't always predict when they will fail.
Tom's answer above is accurate. If the car has see city or rough service, that takes its toll on bushings and other suspension components too.
