I dropped an adjustable wrench into the innards of my '06 Mazda mx5 while replacing the battery. It disappeared. What's the easiest way to retrieve it, short of dismantling the engine from the bottom up?

try using a magnet on a string, to retrieve the tool, providing that the tool is made of steel.

I thought the battery of all MX5's was in the boot like mine, if so its just a closed well with the battery sat on a tray, use a magnet as Laxley says, or remove the battery, be careful though you may need the code of your radio as it may reset if you leave the connection off too long
