how to i adust the idle on a 98 cavelier

Basically you can't, the idle is computer controlled, if you are having trouble the Engine control system needs to be checked.

normally the idle cannot be adjusted. However you can tweak it a bit if the cavelier has a drive by cable on the throttle body.
