2001Miata A/C causing to stall?
I recently purchased a 2001 Miata special edition (BRG) 6 speed. It has 247xxx miles on the odometer. The problem i'm having when i'm driving my Miata with the A/C on , wether on surface roads or freeway the engine will start sputter then completly dies. on other occasions while driving on freeway with A/C on, it will start to sputter again, only this time i will turn off A/C and coast until it recovers and it will keep running fine with A/C off. ?????? Is there any body with same or similar problem that may help me solve this problem.
My guess is that your AC compressor has failed, and is binding, sucking the power out of your engine. HTH Earl '04 MX-5
Sounds like the cam position sensor, it fails and typically throws no codes at all. Because the actual sensor is inside the engine by about 1 inch, it needs to cool by itself to a point where the hall device starts to work again. Electronic components do not like heat, period. Do not replace it with a cheapie, they are junk, trust me.
