Engine shuts down while driving car
My 1996 Mazda Miata only has 62,000 miles.
I took it to a shop and they put in a new a/c compressor.
After that repair was done, my engine shut off while driving the car.
I took it back to the shop and they replaced the engine camshaft sensor.
A couple of days later the engine shut down again while driving the car.
The crank sensor is likely shutting the engine off because the timing is off, which can cause damage to the motor. The problem isn't the sensor, which is doing its job, but it may be the timing that is off. I'd get that checked out, an older timing chain develops enough stretch to throw off the timing. (I'm assuming this isn't a rotary engine?)
The Miata uses a timming belt. How long did it drive before dying?
Ken this year / model miata uses the 1.8 4cyl motor.
