My 2001 lexus gs430 driver side HID bulb and ballast have gone bad.  Replacing them
costs upwards of $1300 for parts plus labor.  Can you please suggest if there are any
alternatives ?  i am looking to see if i can purchase after market ballast for a cheaper
price or at an extreme, is it possible to replace the entire headlight with regular halogen
one ?  Really didnt want to spend a lot of $$$ on a headlight bulb out issue.

Check EBay for your year make and model under lighting in EBay motors section, I'm sure you will find an aftermarket alternative, but you will have to do both sides to keep the loads even for you electrical system. HTH
