2002 VW Passat 1.8T 5 speed, 133,300 miles, body and interior are mint, heated leather seats, sun roof, new brakes and tires, $3500. Is this a good buy? What is maintainance/repair costs like on VW?

First thing to do is run a vehicle history report such as carfax or autocheck. Some parts for a VW can be hard to get. Especially as it gets older. I'd strongly recommend taking it to a shop that specializes in imports. Basically a VW is a less expensive BMW. If buying from any kind of dealer ask about an extended used car warranty that you can buy. Especially if you'll be financing it. Overall VWs are good reliable cars. Unless this one's been beat up it still should have plenty of life left in it! HTH. -Jim


I forgot to mention that it comes with a 3 month/4500 mile warranty!
