CEL light comes on due to a fault code, so you need to scan the car. Your local auto parts store will be able to do that for you for free. A lit brake light is usually due to a low brake fluid level in the reservoir. Check for leaks on the reservoir itself, the brake lines and around the wheels for brake fluid.
