can i swap a 03 2.8 vr6 engine into a 93 vw passat gl?
I have 93 vw Passat it has the 1.8in it now I wanna get a motor work on it and then get the 6 speed trans in it but I don't know if the year matters what years are best for my car?
Check with a VW mechanic or service dept. at a dealership. Or motor swaps info online. Usually equipment (engines & transmitions) all holt in the same within companies & models, & or how would they offer engine & trans options?
i think the engine would be to large for this car. The older jettas were small compared to a average full size sedan. You could probably Frankenstein it by chopping off the entire front end of both cars but i would not put my money on that one. i think the best you can do is change it with something simalure. A 1.8L engine from a newer model may work since they are all vertualy simalure but then you run into the problem of needing the electricals from the newer car for it to work. this includes the dash unit since VW and Audi likes to plant there security in there dash units.
