check engine light is coming on and saying its because of a cooling problem but i cant figure out whats wrong with it can someone help?
Asked by johnathanera Jul 12, 2013 at 10:15 PM about the 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GL 1.8T
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My check engine light has recently turned on so I got my code reader and ran the code
and it told me that it was a cooling system problem I have replaced the coolant sensor
and that didn't work and the fans kick on as soon as the temperature of the engine gets
over 190 so I don't think that's the problem. Can someone please help me out? Thank
you for your time

get a NEW battery....undo the connection at the end of the 1/0 battery cable what connects to the ground/chassis...coarse wirebrush this free of paint and corrosion....re-attach assuring 300 Cold Cranking Amp starting ability...this and the one that goes to the motor block....the ECU gets fuzzy because it is seeing variable amperage and variable voltage...we aim to correct this condition by providing Solid Steady Power....incidentally the CEL will be reset once you disconnect the bolt for cleaning....fyi~

I have a 2004 2.0l jetta and its been in the dealership repair for 4 days. They were checking wires and tracing to find out why my check engine was on. They just called and told me it needs a instrument cluster because it shorted out. It costs $1,486 to replace. Thats about the cost of the car even with its good condition. What do I do? 5 answers

i have a 2004 vw jetta 1.8t and i tried to start it one day and it only cranked. i know i need a new battery, but when it was charged i could hear the pump hum and i had changed the oil. i changed the crankshaft position sensor and all the spark plugs and fuel filter and still no start. i changed the pump relay and still nothing im at my wits end and i need my second car to start runnin. its not getting any fuel because i tried starting fluid in the spark plug area and it fired right up its not leaking from any hoses. the only thing i changed in it was a battery for the keyless entry and the oil. i have the check engine light on and when i try to start it the battry sounds like its losing power and the oil light will start flashing. what is the malfunction. i know it needs air fuel and spark, and fuel is my problem. 3 answers
