i just changed my battery on the my 04 jetta key fob, but it will not lock or unlock my car, but prior to that the key will lock my car sometimes....so what should i do

when you switch between keys or remove the battery some times it helps to take the key and insert it in the door and lock then unlock your car with it manually to reset the security on the key. it also helps to use it in the ignition at least once. if this does not help if may be a problem with your keys circuit board or the cars security system.
