Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey Guys,

I've been trying to fix this issue for few years but neither
Canadian Tire or my mechanic was able to fix it. It did go away for a few
years bc my mechanic did some lubrication or something on it.

I've had a noise coming out of my right-side front wheel (only from this
wheel). It's a squeaking high pitch metal on metal type noise (like that of
which big trucks make when they brake).
It makes this noise when I step on the gas AND also when I step on the
brake (but the sound slightly changes with braking altough same type of
noise). Also, it doesn't make this noise in the first few minutes of driving.
Also sometimes it kind of just goes away. Sometimes it gets really bad,
like its constantly whistling as I'm driving. I think this happens usually after
driving for long time. Finally, whenever I press hard on the brake, the noise
goes away for a short while.

Which part/piece do you think noise is coming from? What should we try?
My mechanic changed the brake pads but it didn't do anything. It's not the
brake pads!

THANK YOU

Dust shrouds and other metal parts can be close together and make contact on turns , acceleration or when they get warm . could be a kotter pin or some other small detail that is missed . If there's discolored wheels from brake dust then the calipers aren't relaxing

Thanks for the suggestions guys!! I will pass it on, appreciate it. The noise was going on few few years but on and off, like I said my mechanic fixed it for a long while but the noise came back.

Hey guys, just wanted to give an update and be more specific in trying to figure out what is causing the high pitch squealing sound (like that of big trucks braking) coming from the front right wheel area. Its 2003 VW. This noise only comes on after 5m of driving. Sometimes it goes away, sometimes it's there constantly. The noise goes away for a while whenvever I press hard on the brakes. The noise does not come when turning or going too slow. The noise comes when accelerating but also when I take foot of gas and the car is just glides. I also just noticed the noise doesn't really change if I start to accelerate - it is the same noise when I am accelerating or the car is just crusing on its own. But when I brake its a different pitch sound but same type of noise. It is not brake pads, as we changed them. THANKS
