Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had the battery replaced in my 2003 Jetta, and the radio is stuck on 88.3 FM.  I have the code but cannot get into safe mode to enter it.  How do I get to safe mode???

Hi apassehl, Try to press and hold the SEEK and SCAN buttons simultaneosly until "1000" lights up in the display. Then use the station buttons 1 to 4 to input your code. 1 to input the first digit, 2 to input the second, and so on. After the code is entered, press and hold the SEEK and SCAN buttons again until "SAFE" reappears. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I've tried that as well as removing the fuse and nothing has worked! Tonight I will try disconnecting the battery to see if that resets the radio... I'll try your method once more though and will report back with what works.

I have a similar problem I can't get the display to read 1000 I have a 2003 Jetta gli .

i had the same problem , what i did was turn the car off but leave the key in ignition, then switch key back to on postion but do not turn the car turn on , then power off the radio take key out repeat process and it should work when u turn the car on
