Buy or keep looking? 2003 Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Diesel 2003
I found a Turbo Diesel Jetta for sale near
me for $4,800. The car is visually in good
condition exterior and interior, and gets
about 40 mpg according to the seller.
However, said car has 203,000 miles on it
and after doing a VIN lookup I found a
few problems with the engine that was
estimated to cost $6,000 in the
description. But this was in 2006 with
100,000 miles on it so obviously it was
fixed. The owner says they maintain it
and replace the timing belt ever 80k
miles. Just based on the info, should I
buy it just for the gas mileage or keep
looking? Also, what are some other fuel
saving options under $5,000? Thanks,
Diesel engines can run a very long time when properly cared for. Ask the owner about the repairs and ask to see repair invoices and if you are still not sure take into a VW shop and have them check it out.
YIKES!!! haven't you been readin' the news?? these cars are causing the biggest scandal for VW and Germany since Hitler was building the Autobahn- they CHEATED on emissions and are being forced to recall every one of them- the owner is praying he can find someone who hasn't heard about this, and can unload it at any price- they are virtually WORTHLESS- (check it out online)- you're welcome-
2003 TD IS NOT part of recall!
