I have a 96 Jetta and I picked up a 1.8t motor from a passat. Can I use my 2.0 tranny with this motor and are there a lot of mods that need to be done for this swap? Please help me

generaly all the tranys are close to simalur provided you got them from the same year of car. or body style. A 1.8 and a 2L engine were both side mounted so i can't see why it would not work with the 2L engine. But don't take my word on it. As for the wiring harness i garantue you will need the other cars computer and wiring harnes to install this engine. The 1.8 wll have most hte connectors you need but not quite all the ones you need in the end. Just unplug the computer and leave the wireing hooked up to the engine with the computer if you can cause should be jsut simple thing of pluging in the other pc when you install. (don't take my word on this one since i am not 100% sure about this i am only guessing here so it may or may not work.)
