1992 golf gl diesel conversion
I've got a 1992 golf GL with an automatic transmission and a totaled 2001 Jetta with a manual and diesel TDI. I am looking at taking the engine and tranny out of my jetta and putting it into my golf. Does anybody have any tips or pointers? Anything i should know? PS after it's all said and done I will have a perfectly good gas engine and tranny for sale.
Sorry typo, its a 1995 gl!
So in order to "correctly" install the diesel in a "non" diesel auto you are ready to change out - #1 the exhaust (since it is different due to emissions and operating system requirements), #2 the cooling system (radiator), #3 the electrical system (since it is different due to fuses and controllers, #4 the drive system "mounts" (as diesels are heavier), #5 the fuel system (since you cant run diesel fuel down thru a gasoline fuel filter system due to pressures and filter design) for the benefit of what ? Not to mention any number of other things I might not have mentioned or the cost to make the changes.
Hey maybe a bit late was just wondering did you end up on doing the swap and if so how did it go and what where the steps you did cause I'm trying to change my adz engine out of my 1997 golf CL with a tdi but I can't find any cars or engines that are tdi except for the mk5 + and I would get it but I dunno if it would fit but yea like anything on what you did how you did it was it hard/ easy did it fit straight away no problem
