How do you change the aux battery in a 93 VW Eurovan?

The manual says it's under the driver seat.  When I unbolt the driver seat there is a solid unmovable plate
that appears attached to the floor.

i add swivels on my 2002 weekender vw and the battery is to high can i use lithium battery?
