Sputtering

Asked by Oct 31, 2016 at 03:17 PM about the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio 2 Dr GLS Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Cabrio sputters for a short while after I
start it & go down the road... I realize it is
fuel injection... So I know it's not a
carburetor issue... Could it be spark plugs
or fuel filter???

To answer your question it could be either or both. Have you done a tuneup and filter change lately?

You should also watch for some white smoke out the tailpipe after the first startup, hopefully you won't see any but if you do chances are high that you have a blown headgasket.
