I replaced the instrument cluster with a 97 golf cluster from the junk yard, could only get the turn signal to work
Replaced the instrument cluster in my 95 cabrio with a 97 golf instrument cluster. Could only get the turn signals to work. Does the new cluster have to be coded or calibrated?I was told that this part is compatiable with this car
If you are familiar with computer eeproms not difficult.. you will need the electronics gear and connectors. The new or used cluster is installed in the car. Battery voltage at least 12.0 V. All relevant coding and adaptation values need to be transferred from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster to the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) cluster. VW vehicles typically use short coding in address 19-CAN Gateway. If the original value is 00006, which is common, recode the new unit to the same value to refresh the internal gateway installation list. Make sure to have BOTH PIN's, from the OLD (ORIGINAL) and the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) instrument cluster. Make sure to have the Radio Code (for factory radios only).
Not familiar with eeproms.Have no idea how to transfer the coding from the old cluster to the new one. Basically have no idea what the above means.Help
Yea, it would have been more helpful if the first answer was written in English. LOL (o\_I_/o)
