change of battery

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It looks I need a new battery for my BMW X5. I am aware how sensitive their
electrics are, that is I am concerned how to go about changing the battery and
not damaging ECU and resetting the system! Thanks

You change the battery like any other car, remove negative first then positive, and in reverse when installing the new one. Your SUV also needs to have the new battery programmed/registered to the vehicle so the charging system knows there is a new battery installed. Your local BMW dealer or your local BMW independent mechanic can do it for you. Sometimes it's cheaper if you buy the battery from them. Shop around, should be about $50 for the programming.....
