Those lights must work as they are part of the circuit, you might want to test the bulbs for continuity, if thier blown the 4X4 electronics won't activate.

2 wheel hi light stays on most of the time, when I hit a hard bump it goes off. When I push the 4 wheel hi, or low button it blinks then goes out..... Why???

Okay, the most common failure is the transfer case shift motor, try having someone push the 4X4 button as you lightly tap the motor witha small hammer or wrench, if the motor runs and the 4 WD engages then you found your problem, replace the motor assembly, if it don't run then you will have to test the 4 WD activation control box and the wiring. I have seen quite a number of these have broken wires in the harness at the shift motor. HTH

on hook the battery for 10 min, then try it it happend to mine and someone told about it and it worked

It's a fuse on the drivers Side interior same thing happened to mine
