Timing???

Asked by Nov 24, 2015 at 02:46 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Venture LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having the same problem as the gentleman that asked the similar
question. Although I have an OBD II scanner. It comes back as multiple
cylinder misfire. I am also having trouble finding the instructions on how to
remove the timing cover. I have the harmonic balance pulley off, but do I have
to pull off all the pulleys from around the engine as well?

What codes are you getting? For misfires, your best bet is to remove and replace the spark plugs and wires. Not sure why you are removing the timing cover. To get to the back set you have have two ways, from under the vehicle or from up top and remove the bolts on the dog bones to rock the engine forward. Check youtube.

To get to the timing chain. I am not at home at the moment so I am not able to give the codes I was given. It was as if the timing jumped a tooth or more. I will further investigate this when I return home. Thank you.
