1989 honda accord dx smokes on startup when cold
the motor only has 60,000 miles on it. I change the oil religiously using valvoline
conventional. this last time i also added a quart of lucas oil additive. the car is in great
shape and i am the second owner i just tuned up the motor adding air filter, plugs, cap
and rotor. i also cleaned the carburator. the car only smokes after sitting for 8 - 10
hours. this is a very nice little car but not worth another new motor. any thoughts
would be appreciated.
What color is the smoke? Blue is oil white is coolant.
the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve~ https://www.google.com/#q=1989+honda+accord+pcv+valve
oops sorry the smoke is blue it is def. oil smoke
Oil is most likely running down from the valve stem seals, it is definitely old enough to have that problem, even though the mileage is low.
