i have a 1995 sl500 mercedes and i dont now how to check the soft top pump i dont know wair it is
behind the rear seat area under the cover move the top to the half way point rear tonneau open and rear section of top up pump and piston are there under the cover you can see in the top stowage compartment i dont recommend repair on your own it is a very complex system under high pressure hydraulic fluid well damage leather and carpeting good luck
It's under the spare tire in the trunk. Michael what SL ever had a back seat?
Ted is right, the pump is below the wheel well in your trunk, if it has oil and no leak, you may need to change the pump, but you may have other problems and not necessarily the pump, there are two sets of valves (very expensive) that control the movements under both sides of the roll bar. If the fuse(s) is not burnt and everything looks okay, open the back panels inside the car and inspect the oil lines.
