Loss of accelerator pedal pressure and consequent loss of power

Asked by Mar 29, 2011 at 10:22 AM about the 1994 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL 500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1992 500SL. While driving at 70 mph the accelerator pedal suddenly went loose with a subsequest loss of power. Used cruise control to get me home. Pedal still allowed for very slow acceleration. Any ideas?

Sounds like your throttle body assembly is freaking out :) Usually needs replacement when any problems occur with it

Same loss of power would not drive more than 10mph. Sent out throttle actuator and came back, not the problem. Unit is OK. Don't know what else to try. Local dealer also has no solution. Scary to drive the car when it can decide not to cooperate and gets me another tow by AAA? HELP!!
