2001 ML320 felt like Emergency Brake was on then ran fine about 3 times then BAS/ESP light came on and off and the Triangle light came on and off but now car runs ok what could this be??

BAS - Brake Assist System, engages when you hit the brakes hard. ESP - Electronic Stability Program controls the traction of the wheels. If the light comes for no reason a steering sensor may be out of calibration. It will come on if the wheels slip during normal operation. That tells you that the system is working.
