Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving, a vibration (knocking) is present from front left wheel area. Vibration only present when the steering wheel is turned to the left of center.  Noticable when road curbs to the left.  Vibration increases with speed. Could it be wheel bearings? ML430 has 96,000 miles on it.

Sounds to me like wheel bearings are certainly a possibility. A bad inner tie rod end or problem with your steering gear could also cause a problem like this, but the fact that you say it becomes more pronounced with speed leads me to believe wheel bearings are the cause. Have you had the tires balanced and checked for wear lately? This could also be an issue.
