if someone changed the lower intake gasket on a 2000 chevy malibu Ls cause problems with the fuel pump to go out?

No, probably just coincidence. But was it the fuel pump or maybe they didn;t hook something up correctly in the engine bay while doing the work. Like the fuel injector harness, etc.
