2000 Chevy Malibu died while driving and won't start.

Asked by Jul 03, 2015 at 02:05 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife was driving the car and it randomly
died and wouldn't start. She said it has
randomly lost power while driving twice
recently.  I have tried the theft lock reset 30
minutes procedure and during it the clock
randomly flashed a few times, the low fuel
light came on and the cel is on. The reset
has not worked and car still will not start. It
turns over but will not start.

Also, we have randomly had problems with the theft system on this vehicle in the past, but the 10 minute reset has always worked in the past. I do not here the fuel pump cycle when turning the key to the on position but am unsure as to if it would cycle if there's a problem with the theft system/ ignition switch.
