Fluid Leak - Broken Driver Seat Forward Adjustment Lever

Asked by Oct 09, 2015 at 06:34 PM about the 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 230 Kompressor Supercharged Sedan

Question type: General

My buddy has a C230 Kompressor. I asked him how to adjust the seat
because it was too far back. He told me someone broke the lever and just
to pull it hard. I did, and immediately there was a pop and hissing with a
foul-smelling fluid spraying all over the seat and my leg. It smelled like
grease at first but it is definitely glue because it has dried to my skin and
will not come off.

Does anyone know what this glue is and/or what happened? And what
parts of the seat were compromised, if any?

Here's my guess, your buddy must have had a bottle of the fluid stuck under the seat for weeks, which when he pulled on it he broke the lever and just left it there. Then you got in at some point and you pulled on it harder and ended up breaking the bottle spraying all over you? Didn't either you or your buddy looked under the seat?

What Tom said, I would inspect under the seat to find out what exactly broke and sprayed on your leg.
