What would cause my car to go in to reverse when I put it in to drive?

Before this happened my motor would jerk
when shifting into gear from a busted motor
mount.but for some reason it stopped
jerking.

The jerking has broken or misaligned the cable or shifter on the trans. Shifting down to second or low will most likely give you forward. Get it fixed soon.
