Why does my 4 wheel drive blink and not work?

Failure in the 4X4 system, could be a stuck transfercase motor, shift position sensor, 4X4 control unit, etc. Try this: turn the key on, not start, slide under the rig and lightly tap the shift motor while some ones pushes the 4X4 switch, if you hear the motor then run and engage the transfer case then you have a transfercase shift motor starting to fail, if the motor will not run then you need to check all of the energizing circuits to and from the 4X4 control module.
