how do you tell if it is the injector pump, tank pump or something else

97 12V dodge.  truck quite like it was out of fuel and reacted same way when trying to
start.  Pushed primer button several times.   started with a clicking sound.  shut truck off
and restarted.  clicking sound gone.   drove it about 100 km and same problem.  is it a
fuel filter, injector pump, pump in tank or something else.   what do you think.  thanks

look at the fuel lines/hoses at the firewall area. They are known to split and suck air in.
