Truck sometimes won’t start just click have to give it gas

Asked by Matthew Oct 17, 2021 at 02:20 PM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve got a 06 Ram 1500 Laramie. This just
started happen yesterday where to truck
randomly died and would not start. Truck has a
brand new starter and the battery was tested
and it’s good and a new PCM.
When it happened the first time I pulled the fuse
box and got to the starter relay which was
behind it for some reason it’s was not mounted
(and still isn’t) but I checked and didn’t see
major corrosion or anything so I put it back tried
it again and the truck started. Now this morning
wouldn’t start just a lot of clicking, but I put my
foot on the gas and it slowly gained power to
start up. And the same thing just happened to
me 20m ago at the car wash.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
And let me know if you need more info

make sure ALL electrical connections are clean and tight . You're not " pumping " anything it's EFI but there may be " default " signals when you fully depress the gas . Snoop around .
