Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Somebody recently said it looks like a habe
a leak on the manifold, could this cause it
to knock?

hi yes they are know for braking the manifold to head bolts and what your hearing is the exhaust leaking and as it heats up it expands and seals off ...// the manifolds will have to be removed and then the broken bolts ...//gaskets and all the bolts should be replaced ...// the manifolds will have to be checked with a strait edge and if they are warped they should be replaced as well

it depends on who does it and how many bolts are broken labor wise its about 2.5 hrs a side and about a 0.5hrs a broken bolt....the dealership will be more money per hrs....// but will have the parts in stock and it is a common job done so it will get done right and they know how to get the studs out quick...// a outside shop will be less money per hrs but you take the risk of them not doing it right
