2005 dodge 1500
Today my "check gauge" light came on,
but went off soon after, and when I left
work the truck would crank but my start, if
i press the gas pedal it'll start right up but
shifts very rough and runs at high RPMs.
sounds like the engine has a bad air/fuel mixture. while its running are there any other warning lights on? and when the check gauge light came on did you look to see which gauge was not inside its normal parameters? check your air induction system to see if there may be any debris in the air filter housing or tubes leading to the throttle body.
Are you sure it was the check gauges light, cause this sounds like a check engine problem, as it still runs swing by a place like auto zone and have the code pulled, write then down and repost them back here and someone will jump in and help, you all no with further diagnosis.
The check engine light is also on, forgot to mention that
It read as a IAT sensor, bought new sensor no idea where it's located
If it is a Hemi it is located in the throttle body on the passenger side in the front, it will have two wires going to it. See you tube vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnnO7ggfyyE
Update Changed that sensor and no luck, was told it was the GPS? I dunno what that it but something about the throttle body?
GPS has nothing to do with engine management systems what so ever. Perhaps they meant CPS, crankshaft position sensor. I have found a few occasions those have went bad and wold not leave a code, the only way I found it was by using a lab scope and watch the waveform.
It feels like it's in a limp mode almost
maybe they meant TPS throttle position sensor.. you said check engine light is on is it still on even after you changed the IAT sensor? if so what codes is it pulling?
