Custom exhaust, what should I do.
I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4 crew cab.
Looking to do my own exhaust. Took off the stock
system. Running straight pipe right now. Sounds
good, but, I wanna make it louder and keep that
nice rich deep tone. Looking to see what y'all
suggest for a muffler, pipe size, and maybe a
glasspack to run. I'm running just a single pipe
right now. Want to run a side dump in front of the
passenger and driver side rear tires. Let me know
what complications y'all have run into with
everything from air flow, fuel mixture and power.
What kind if tuning I may need to do after installing
it. Also the truck is completely stock. Would greatly
appreciate the advice and opinions. Thanks.
My opinion is put some kind of muffler back on and be considerate of the people around you that have to listen to that loud crap.
If your running straight pipes that is as loud and as noisy as it is going to get. My suggestion is put long tube headers, high flow 31/4 Magnaflow catalysts, 31/4 piping with crossover and Magnaflow 10 mufflers, this will take the obnoxious crack out of the exhaust and deepen the tone. Then start looking at programming chips like Bully Dog or Superchips to fine tune the system for your type of driving.
Sweet, ok, thanks tennisshoes! I look into that. Thanks for the advice.
There are some sound bits on you tube on different mufflers, you might want to check it out.
Ok! I'll take a look at that too, thanks, greatly appreciate it!!! Looking to just make my rig a lil more enjoyable to drive. It's a work in progress haha.
