I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT pick up 4 wheel drive and when I start it in cold weather I get a noise coming from the engine compartment
The noise is like a "tinny rattling exhaust" sound like used to come from exhaust heat
risers that were used in older vehicles. The sound goes away after about 5 minutes when
it warms up. It has 110,000 miles on it and used to do it only on rare occasion-now
happens every time I start it. Any help would be appreciated.
Could be an exhaust leak, or just a heat shield that has rusted loose. Have someone get under the car to inspect it.
I know it was a very long time ago but did u ever figure this out ? My truck did the exact same thing this morning for the first time.i own the exact same kind of truck down to the year.
