brake lights go out when using the fan motor

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500.  The brake lights  go out when I use the fan motor(blows the fuse).  At this time my mechanic has the fan disconnected.  Any ideas on what it can be?  Mechanic is talking about changing both fuse boxes.
