truck starts up but only gear that works is park

I have a dodge ram 1500 5.7 Hemi and I was driving on the freeway and hit the
gas to speed up and after that I started coasting and now the only gear that
works is park.What would cause that to Happen

there is a plastic peice on gear shift that will do this. Have you talked to your local mechanic?
